Bottling Waning Moon's First Wine

Genesis, the non-capitalized version, as a point of origin in a journey to come into being. Such journeys can be painful...born of disappointment but resulting in the fruition of a dream filled with collaborations between real friends. So this wine...now and forever...is a testament to tenacity.

  Genese

  What's in a name? In this particular case....a great deal. At first it seemed obvious...the easy way of connecting the love of Burgundy to Waning Moon's first bottling of pinot noir

  It was obvious but seemed to work. Then...as times changed, my initial reaction was to abandon the name in favor of something else...something that I could launch into a new future.

  But then I realized that just because the initial sentimental relevance of the name Genese, a la Genesis -- as a first of many -- seemed, now, inappropriate, that there was another meaning that made this the perfect, continuing name.

  This wine will always be pinot noir--my first and truest soulmate -- but it will always represent the moments of true genesis from which the struggle to make this wine came.
